UX Consultant

Overview

The UX Consultant is a specialist in their field. With several years of experience under your belt, you’ll know how to gain a thorough understanding of our clients and their customers to deliver the best and most appropriate digital solutions.

Working alongside our Head of Experience Design, you’ll play a key role in the discovery process for greenfield web projects…planning and facilitating UX workshops with stakeholders, leading user research and testing activities, and collaborating with our technical and strategic teams to ensure we understand the clients’ problems and know how to solve them.

We support 80+ clients on an ongoing basis, giving the UX Consultant an excellent opportunity to help support and grow our accounts through feature development, journey mapping, user testing, and data-driven design.
As a Consultant you will also regularly support and inform the work of the wider UX & Design team, offering vital research and insights for their projects and giving them the best platform possible to create exceptional user experiences. 

Strong interpersonal skills are essential. This role has a huge potential for growth. Consultants are given the platform to become a leader in their field and have a significant impact on the success of our projects. We are looking for someone who can help us to nurture and grow our UX offering as an agency, working alongside the Head of Experience Design to shape and develop this key area of the business across our projects and products.

Responsibilities

  • An excellent understanding of user research and testing methodologies. Able to select, plan and perform appropriate activities to support and inform multiple projects.
  • Help to build the agency’s UX offering with existing and future clients. 
  • Support designers with various UX aspects of the projects and products they work on.
  • Articulate ideas with skill and confidence. Communication skills should be very strong.
  • Turn research into insights to help inform the direction of design projects.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and interviews effectively.
  • Propose IA, taxonomies, navigation and key user journeys. 
  • Present work and research to a high standard, explaining decisions and thought processes in a clear and articulate manner.
  • Implement and uphold best practices in UX.
  • A custodian for UX within Cantarus, able to educate and advise the design team and wider business on best practices.
  • Contribute to thought leadership with regards UX.
  • Able to support product teams to shape and improve our processes and outputs.
  • Strong time management skills. Able to balance and prioritise your workload.
  • Support the wider design team with research, insights and opinions.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, providing solid UX foundations for their projects including site maps, wireframes, user personas and user flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers to deliver solutions within agreed timeframes.
  • Manage your own file and folder structures, ensuring teammates are able to collaborate with you efficiently.

Preferred Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience within an agency or product background.
  • Strong and confident using Miro, Figma/FigJam or similar.
  • Highly interested in user behaviour and psychology, understanding what makes people tick and click.
  • A strong work ethic and a positive attitude. You should thrive when working within a collaborative team environment.
  • An understanding of responsive design and creating experiences across multiple devices.
  • Experience and interest in Accessibility, conducting audits and adhering to WCAG 2.2 AA standards would be a bonus.
