DNN Website Awards: B2C – BVCA Summit
We’ve worked with BVCA for a number of years, supporting the development of their main website and other smaller projects. We have created the campaign microsites for the BVCA annual conferences, High Growth and Summit, for the past few years and continue to work with them on these microsites. 
BVCA High Growth is the entrepreneurs’ event, with a particular focus on growth equity companies and investors that are involved before, during and after this stage of investment. Cantarus has been tasked with creating the campaign microsite to promote their annual event for the past few years. As the event is aimed at high growth companies and entrepreneurs, it is imperative that BVCA delivers a visually appealing site year-on-year.

The fundamental goal of the site is to drive event awareness, increase engagement, and ultimately get more bookings. We created mobile-optimised websites to ensure the overall UX and ease of navigation were intuitive, with plenty of interactive elements and animations throughout. 
BVCA Summit is the BVCA’s key flagship event on the calendar held every October. The event attracts leading figures from across the globe within the business, finance, and politics industries. Heavily promoted throughout the year at other events, through direct mailings, and advertisements in event programmes, BVCA required an outstanding microsite that would capture the event’s high profile and drive event bookings. Our objectives for the project were simple:

  • Develop and design a microsite that displayed the two-day event in an effortless, but attractive manner,
  • A focus on improving user experience,
  • Increase awareness of the Summit event.

Having a web design that worked across various platforms made the delegate experience better than ever before – we wanted to ensure that it was a smooth experience for delegates to book on, choose sessions to attend, and easy to find all of the key info. Cantarus did an excellent job at making all of this possible and the new site was instrumental in driving record bookings and helped massively with bringing the event to the forefront of the private equity and venture capital community. We’re already looking forward to working on the next microsite with the Cantarus team and seeing what they come up with next.

We focus on designs that work well across platforms, concentrating heavily on user experience. The microsites need to be highly useful and display relevant information like agendas, sponsors, and speakers, for each day of the event - but also need to be easy to navigate through and consume on mobile. Our design process is mobile-first from the ground up. 

We strike to find a balance between being aesthetically attractive to high-profile users, but also being really simple to use. Previous microsites have included simple timeline features, making it easy from a user perspective to find relevant sessions and times, and switch between days painlessly. We have also incorporated simple booking processes on the microsites. The sites need to make an impact, so we have created microsites that tell a story as the user scrolls down, with easy navigation between pages.

Every year Cantarus push the boundaries applying the High Growth event ident in the most creative of ways. The site was modern, intuitive and fully responsive. It helped drive 500+ bookings and contributed massively towards making this event the premier gathering for growth companies partnering with venture and growth capital. The Cantarus team were brilliant from start to finish – they're easily the most flexible, diligent, competent and creative agency I’ve worked with.
