Hello! Welcome back to part two of our ‘Supercharge your Umbraco Website’ series. Previously, we talked about personalisation and A/B testing, and in today’s article, we’ll be talking all about analytics. So, grab a cuppa, and let’s get stuck into the world of data.

Digital Analytics

Umbraco Analytics is another cool module in the uMarketingSuite that allows you to gather insightful, interesting data on your users – even if they are using an ad or cookie blocker. This enables you to benefit from the power of user data in a non-invasive way that doesn’t compromise your users' privacy.

All data is recorded server-side, so it’s owned and controlled entirely by you, unlike other 3rd party analytics providers. Data recorded by uMarketingSuite includes things like time spent on the page, which browser was used, the device type, visitor location, and bounce rates. You can filter this easily too, and make interesting comparisons and set goals.

You also have the opportunity to add a client-side script for some behavioural data such as scroll depth, video views, searches, or clicks to other websites. As all this information is stored in your very own database, it’s super-efficient and completely GDPR compliant. Oh, and by using first-party cookies, it’s adblocker resistant – meaning you can capture up to 30% more data than tools like Google Analytics.

Another exciting functionality of Analytics is database storage, meaning there’s little to no impact on your website’s performance. Umbraco also uses smart storage, so the required storage space is minimal.

Want to track which bots are coming through to your site? Yep, you can do that too. Collect bot-traffic data, see how your SEO is performing, and even block specific bots to help boost your site speed.

All in all, Umbraco Analytics is an excellent tool you can use to your advantage, alongside more mainstream analytics tools like Google Analytics. If you want to improve user experience and serve more useful, data-driven content to your users, we'd strongly recommend utilising this feature as soon as possible!
