Empowering Aesthetics Professionals with a Cutting-Edge Umbraco Website   

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) is the world’s leading professional body for board-certified aesthetic plastic surgeons. ISAPS has a membership base of more than 5,000 plastic surgeons in 116+ countries, and with such a large target audience, it was critical that their website was able to meet all those members’ needs. 

ISAPS selected Cantarus as Umbraco Platinum Partners to successfully deliver a visually stunning website that better represents who they are as an organisation and significantly improves the overall user experience.   

The Challenge


The project goals were simple: 

  • Raise ISAPS brand awareness, 
  • Increase membership recruitment and retention, 
  • Enhance member engagement and experience. 


Working closely with ISAPS throughout the project, we ran discovery workshops to gain a deeper understanding of their users. We came up with three key user groups to focus on: Members, Non-Members, and Patients. We had regular catch-up calls with the team to ensure they were continually updated on progress and make sure timelines were being met comfortably. 

One of the main focuses of the new site was to ensure platforms were aligned, reduced, and streamlined. Previously, there were several isolated microsites within the ISAPS estate which were hindering the user experience. We restructured site content into a more intuitive information architecture, with clear and easy-to-use navigation allowing users to find the information they are looking for quickly and with ease. The improved search bar function has enabled better discoverability and searchability. The use of dropdown menus and clear calls-to-action makes it simple to explore the site and access the various resources available, including news, events, and the video library. 

Another key challenge was to simplify the member join journey, which we have achieved via clear, effective messaging and signposting. Users are now guided through the application process, which has minimised drop-off rates significantly. We have also made it considerably easier for existing members to access the wide range of services and key benefits ISAPS offers and manage their membership through appropriate integration between their CRM and the website. It is also now significantly easier to access the ISAPS APS Journal. 

We improved the ‘Find a Surgeon’ directory function, with contact profile cards for all members, so users can now easily log in to the website to update their profile information. We also implemented a Dedicated Patients section to the website, allowing ISAPS to create mini sites within the main website by providing a secondary navigation level.  

The Umbraco CMS has allowed ISAPS to enhance their internal processes for managing content – having reusable content templates and other powerful features like the content workflow engine and content personalisation means the team can create and maintain content more intuitively, as well as gate certain webpages. Not only has this been highly useful for ISAPS to tailor their site to a variety of user types, but this has also freed up much of the time staff was previously spending on general site management. 

Finally, ISAPS wanted to ensure their brand was visible and communicated effectively with their key audiences. At Cantarus, we accept nothing less than a best-in-class digital-first product! The new website has brought the brand to life through vibrant graphic elements, bold typography, visually engaging colour palettes, and introducing bespoke iconography. The design is both smart and sophisticated while still retaining a friendly and approachable feel. 

The ISAPS website has had a significant impact on its members, easier to navigate and better reflecting their brand. The results from the new site speak for themselves, but highlights since launch have included:

We had a really good experience working with Cantarus on the redevelopment of the ISAPS website.
