The newly published Influence 100 list from MemberWise ranks the UK’s largest membership organisations by total membership size. This annual list offers a clear picture of the organisations shaping professional communities and driving sector-wide impact.

At Cantarus, we view this list as more than just a measurement of reach. It prompts the question, what does it really take to become influential in today’s membership landscape?

Scale is one indicator – but influence is multi-faceted

While the Influence 100 ranks organisations by membership volume, many of those on the list share more than just size. They’ve evolved and adapted, investing in strategies that make their digital infrastructure a real driver of value.

This reflects what we've observed – size and influence increasingly go hand in hand with digital maturity: the ability to deliver connected, intelligent, and member-led experiences at scale.

What the Influence 100 tells us about where the sector is heading

From our work supporting digital platforms that now serve over 5 million members, we’re seeing the same digital behaviours repeated across the most forward-thinking membership bodies:

  • Seamless integrations across the digital estate – CRM, website, learning platforms, and engagement environments
  • Personalised, data-driven content and communications
  • Intuitive digital journeys across web and mobile
  • Stronger online communities to support ongoing connection and learning

These trends are echoed in MemberWise’s Digital Excellence 2025/26 Research, where organisations highlighted platform integration, personalisation, and digital content strategy as key drivers of performance, and ongoing challenges for many.

What next?

Influence is no longer just about size – it’s about readiness. It’s about building for the future, strengthening your foundations, understanding your members deeply, and aligning your tech stack to deliver real, measurable outcomes.

We’ll continue supporting the sector through:

  • A series of MemberWise webinars, including our upcoming session with British Mensa: “Online Community Land and Expand due to Member Demand” on 10th June, 11–12 noon – exploring how community platforms can scale to meet evolving member needs. Register here.
  • A return to Membership Excellence 2025 in London this November, where we’ll once again be part of the conversation on what it takes to deliver future-ready membership experiences.

We’re proud to work with many organisations featured in the Influence 100, supporting them on projects that range from CRM transformations and CMS upgrades to launching high-impact member communities and strategic consultancy.

Across our portfolio, we support digital platforms serving over 5 million members – helping leading bodies not just stay relevant but thrive.

Whether you're on the list or aspire to be, we're here to help you get more value from every digital touchpoint, connect more meaningfully with your members, and elevate your influence.

The Influence 100 is a recognition of size but also, increasingly, of strategy. The organisations gaining ground today are those using digital tools not just to serve members, but to truly understand and empower them.

If you’re moving in that direction, we’d love to support you on the journey.
