Re-platforming an Extensive Web Estate to Deliver Outstanding Results

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) promotes pharmacy in the media and government, leads the way in medicines information, and supports pharmacists in their education and development. Their Royal Charter gives them a unique status in pharmacy.

RPS tasked Cantarus with strengthening their existing digital presence and upgrading the experience for their members.

RPS required a responsive website layout, an overhaul of their internal search function, and a dedicated resource library with bespoke functionality in order to improve the content review process. They also wanted a single, unified website to replace a number of individual subdomains.

After an extensive discovery phase, we provided RPS with the front and back-end capabilities to represent, connect, and support pharmacy professionals throughout the UK.

The focus of the project was on improving user experience. The new website offers a consistently fresh, up-to-date look and feel, and delivers a completely seamless experience across a wide range of devices. Built on a responsive framework, the site adjusts all navigation elements and content depending on screen size, reducing the amount of clutter as well as lessening page loading times.

We integrated the new website with their existing content management system (CMS) to ensure a smooth transition from the previous site. A big priority for RPS was improving general content organisation across the site, so we ensured navigation was massively enhanced and implemented a central resource centre making it easier than ever for members to find the information they need. The level of coherence across the site has enriched the user journey, and created a more intuitive experience overall.

We were delighted with the dedicated resource library that Cantarus built, before then resources were spread across the website and filled by department so users had to guess who wrote them. The new section has an improved UX and is the now the 3rd most visited section.
